Five wobbly guides to the tools developers live in

Learn the command line, git, the web, then security.

Short missions, a sandboxed terminal and a lot of jelly. No install, nothing to break. Start with the shell, because everything else is commands you type into it. Make a web page and put it on the internet. Then learn to think like an attacker, and build things that are hard to break.

Start here
$ ls  cd  cat  mv

Jelly Shell

Boss your computer around with tiny words. Move around folders, read and copy files, and rescue the gerbil.

Start the shell
$ whoami  chmod  sudo  |

Jelly Shell 2

Who's in charge? Users, groups and file locks. Write your own commands, borrow the boss's power, and use pipes to find out who ate the cookies.

Then part 2
$ git add  commit  push

Jelly Git

Never lose your code again. Save snapshots, undo mistakes and work with other people without stepping on their changes.

Then try git
<h1>  curl  ping  push

Jelly Web

Write your own web page, find out how it crosses the planet in under a second, then put it on the internet with GitHub Pages.

Then the web
Prototype
black hat → white hat

Jelly Security

Same skills, different permission. Break into a pretend computer, fix the hole, then try again. The first 3 missions.

Last of all

New to the terminal? Do them in order. Already comfortable with cd and ls? Jump to part 2 or git. Security uses commands from all the others, so save it for last.
